This OECD paper analyses how reducing food loss and waste (FLW) affects food security, environmental sustainability, and agricultural livelihoods. Using the Aglink-Cosimo model, it finds that halving FLW by 2030 could reduce agricultural greenhouse gas emissions by up to 4–5% and lift up to 137 million people out of hunger, while potentially lowering farm incomes. A cost-benefit analysis estimates that economically optimal FLW reduction targets range between 26% and 47% by 2030.
